AN ACT TO CREATE A NEW CODE SECTION TO BE CODIFIED AS SECTION 27-19-56.15, MISSISSIPPI CODE OF 1972, TO AUTHORIZE THE ISSUANCE OF DISTINCTIVE LICENSE TAG DECALS TO OWNERS OF MOTOR VEHICLES REGISTERED IN HANCOCK, HARRISON OR JACKSON COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, FOR THE PURPOSE OF COMMEMORATING THE TRICENTENNIAL OF THE CITY OF BILOXI; TO PROVIDE THAT SUCH DISTINCTIVE LICENSE TAG DECALS SHALL BE SOLD THROUGH THE BILOXI TRICENTENNIAL COMMISSION; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The following shall be codified as Section 27-19-56.15, Mississippi Code of 1972:

Section 27-19-56.15. Any owner of a motor vehicle that is registered in Hancock, Harrison or Jackson County, Mississippi, may be issued a distinctive license tag decal for each motor vehicle registered in his name, which decal shall commemorate the Tricentennial of the City of Biloxi, Mississippi. The distinctive license tag decal shall be of such size, color and design as may be agreed upon by the Biloxi Tricentennial Commission and the State Tax Commission; however, the State Tax Commission shall have final approval of the size, color and design. The distinctive license tag decals shall be prepared and sold at Twenty Dollars ($20.00) each through the Biloxi Tricentennial Commission, and the proceeds derived from the sale of such decals shall be retained by the Biloxi Tricentennial Commission for the purpose promoting the celebration of the Tricentennial of the City of Biloxi.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after July 1, 1999.
